After Tea John Simpson and Graham Hawkins went out chasing 150. The dynamic due set a high tempo which seemed to work. Graham scored a quick 7 runs before being bowled but had certainly set a pace, with John and Alan scoring quick runs. John made 16 (his first bat of the season) before he was caught by Doyle. Alan made a quick 18 before he was caught and Phil took to the middle but was sent packing before he had time to settle, seeing Davies pick up his third wicket. The match looked in the balance at this point with quick runs being overshadowed by quick wickets. However Simon Switala and Simon Littlewood provided the best partnership of the afternoon (54). Due to incredible technical advances recently at the Cricket Club I can tell you that Simon Switala scored 35 off 41 balls, before getting out LBW. That’s a strike rate of no less than 85.4! Simon Littlewood continued to battle on into a new bowling attack of Deacon and Scotcher which threatened to change the result of the game. Deacon, who bowled Simon Switala out, also saw off me for 4 runs, but not before Scotcher had bowled Simon Robinson for the same score. With the overs running out and the bowling causing some havoc the finishing line looked a long way off, despite only being 15 runs from winning when Simon Littlewood was caught by Deacon from his own bowling. It made for an exciting finish!! Some determined batting from the
